The Head of Solar Sales & Solutions will lead the growth of the solar business across Kenya and the wider East African region, with a strong focus on expanding the Commercial & Industrial segment and delivering sustained revenue growth. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing the full sales lifecycle, building a robust pipeline of high-value opportunities, and ensuring seamless delivery of complex solar solutions. The successful candidate will also lead and scale a high-performing team while working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to support regional expansion and long-term client success.

As part of its strategic growth agenda, Chloride Exide is expanding its footprint in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar segment and strengthening its regional presence across Africa.
We are seeking a commercially driven and technically grounded leader to head and scale our solar business.
Job Purpose
The Head of Solar Sales & Solutions is responsible for leading and growing the solar business across Kenya and the wider East African region. The role will focus on driving revenue growth, expanding into the C&I segment, building a strong sales pipeline, and ensuring effective execution of solar projects from sale through to delivery.
This role requires a balance of commercial leadership, technical understanding, and team development, with responsibility for structuring and scaling a high-performing solar sales function.
Responsibilities
1. Sales Growth & Business Development
• Drive revenue growth within the solar business, with a strong focus on the C&I segment
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities
• Identify new markets, sectors, and growth opportunities
• Develop and execute strategies for market penetration and expansion
• Build strategic partnerships to support business growth
2. Solution Selling & Deal Execution
• Lead end-to-end solution selling: prospecting, qualification, proposal development, negotiation and closing
• Close complex, high-value solar deals with corporate and enterprise clients
• Engage and influence senior stakeholders including CEOs, CFOs and technical teams
• Manage long and technical sales cycles effectively
3. Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, develop and scale a high-performing solar sales team
• Introduce structure, accountability and clear performance management within the team
• Build career progression pathways to support retention and growth
• Coach and mentor team members to improve performance and capability
4. Project Execution & Cross-Functional Coordination
• Ensure seamless coordination from sale through to installation and delivery
• Work closely with design & engineering, field services, finance and operations teams
• Oversee execution of solar projects to meet customer expectations
• Support alignment across departments to deliver high-quality solutions
5. Customer Experience
• Oversee the end-to-end customer journey, ensuring a high standard of service delivery
• Manage customer expectations in technical solution delivery
• Ensure long-term client relationships and satisfaction
6. Regional Expansion
• Support expansion into new markets across East Africa and beyond
• Identify regional opportunities and drive entry strategies
• Build relationships with key stakeholders in new markets
Skills & Experience
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in corporate/enterprise sales, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
• Proven track record in business development and closing complex, high-value deals
• Strong experience in solution-based or technical sales environments
• Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing sales teams
• Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders (C-suite level)
• Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability
• Experience managing long sales cycles and large client portfolios
• Solar industry experience is an advantage, but not mandatory

• Achievement of revenue and sales targets
• Growth of the C&I solar portfolio (including MW capacity targets)
• Strength and conversion of the sales pipeline
• Successful expansion into new markets
• Development and performance of the solar sales team
