The Front of House Manager will lead all guest-facing operations, ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience across accommodation, food and beverage and service delivery. This role carries full responsibility for service standards, commercial performance and guest satisfaction, while embedding conservation values into every interaction. Acting as the primary host and brand ambassador on site, the position leads and develops front-of-house teams, manages guest relationships and upholds the property’s ethos across all guest environments within this live-in leadership role.

The property runs entirely off-grid using advanced solar infrastructure and large-scale reverse osmosis water systems. Alongside delivering an exceptional guest experience, Tribal Sand is committed to reef restoration, sustainable resource management and long-term environmental stewardship along the Kenyan coastline.

In addition a newly purchased house next door to Maya Kobe and Maya illai will offer budget accommodation backpacker style with a bar and restaurant concept – this is under development.

Role Purpose
To oversee and protect all technical, infrastructure and back-of-house operations whilst maintaining strict cost discipline and environmental responsibility. This is a conservation-first technical leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure and Utilities
- Oversee solar energy systems and power continuity
- Manage reverse osmosis and water storage infrastructure
- Supervise critical plant equipment
- Implement preventative maintenance systems
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of utilities
Operational Control and Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly technical reports
- Supervise maintenance and infrastructure budgets
- Manage procurement and supplier relationships
- Monitor cost efficiency and resource usage
- Ensure water, energy and waste management reflect conservation priorities
- Maintain environmental compliance and safety standards Site and Leadership
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance and back-of-house teams
- Oversee staff housing and back-of-house facilities
- Manage regulatory or boundary matters where required
- Step into front-of-house operational leadership during leave rotations
- Provide operational support on ongoing construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with conservation and operational standards
- Assist ownership with development planning, site execution oversight and practical implementation
- Support brand consistency and property presentation across guest-facing and operational environments
Qualifications
- Technical training in mechanical, electrical, renewable energy or water systems preferred
- Substantial practical experience managing off-grid solar, generator and water treatment systems will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
- Experience operating in off-grid or remote environments
- Deep personal commitment to conservation and sustainability
- Systems thinker with preventative mindset
- High integrity and discretion
- Calm authority under pressure
- Comfortable living on site
- Experienced in dealing with authorities and keeping boundaries protected
