The Grants Manager will support the delivery of the organisation’s fundraising strategy by managing the full grant lifecycle across bilateral, multilateral and private donors. Working closely with internal teams, the role ensures high-quality proposal development, compliance with donor requirements and timely, accurate reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining donor relationships, ensuring grant compliance and supporting the successful delivery of funded programmes.

They are looking for a driven and enthusiastic grants fundraiser to join our fundraising team.


Job Purpose

The Grants Manager is responsible for the effective management of grants from bilateral, multilateral and private donors. This role supports the full grant lifecycle from proposal development and donor engagement to compliance, reporting, and audit preparation ensuring that donor requirements and internal standards are met.


Responsibilities


Grant Acquisition

● Collaborate with program and fundraising teams to identify funding opportunities.

● Lead or support the development of high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, budgets and logframes.

● Maintain an updated database of funders, opportunities and submission deadlines.


Grant Management and Compliance

● Oversee the day-to-day management of active grants, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and internal policies.

● Work with finance to monitor grant expenditures against budgets and coordinate budget realignments and modifications.

● Liaise with program staff to track deliverables and reporting milestones.


Reporting and Documentation

● Prepare and submit timely, accurate narrative and financial reports.

● Maintain a centralised grants management system, utilising Salesforce and Google Workspace, including agreements, reports and correspondence.

● Coordinate responses to donor queries and audits.


Team working

● Coordinate with the database administrator and fundraising officer for record keeping and donor communication.

● Coordinate with the communications team on social media content or other funder requirements.

● Coordinate with the fundraising officer on any prospect research.

● Maintain good working knowledge of principle issues in elephant conservation and the organisation’s programmes to be able to represent them with   funders, supporters and potential funders.

● Availability to travel nationally in Kenya, as required.

● Any other work as reasonably requested by the Head of Fundraising.


Skills & Experience

● Minimum 5 years of experience in grants management, preferably in the NGO sector.

● Strong knowledge of donor requirements, strong financial literacy and budget management experience.

● Experience in managing multiple priorities with great attention to detail.

● Excellent organisational, communication and project management skills.

● Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.

● Proficiency with grants management software, (e.g.. Salesforce) and Google Workspace desirable.

● Commitment to wildlife and the environment, with knowledge of Save the Elephants’ work.

● Experience working in or with East African conservation programs is highly desirable.


Salary: KES, fixed term 12-months (renewable based on performance)
