The Camp Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient sustainable and cost-effective functioning of all camp infrastructure logistics systems and support services while supporting the camp’s long-standing conservation values operational excellence and environmental responsibility


Camp Operations Manager - Luxury Hospitality

Purpose 

To ensure the efficient and sustainable functioning of all camp infrastructure, logistics, systems and support services, aligned with the company's environmental values and operational excellence.


Core Responsibilities 

  • Maintain infrastructure: tents, power, plumbing, equipment, vehicles
  • Ensure the camp operations align and promote the 4C strategic plan developed
  •  Oversee camp costs and have a strategic cost cutting plan
  • Oversee camp stores, ordering, waybill tracking, inventory and audits
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules
  • Lead safety, hygiene and fire-risk systems
  • Implement security protocols and monitor guard teams
  • Coordinate guide logistics, transfers and guest vehicle readiness
  • Ensure all licenses, insurances and compliance standards are met
  • Act as the camp’s risk officer, ensuring health and operational safety
  • Develop and oversee CapEx and repair budgets
  • Supervise camp financial matters and reporting thereof
  • Provide hosting duties for the Guest from time to time or when needed
  • Proficient in google workspace
  • Perform any other job that may be assigned to you from time to time.


Key Deliverables 

  • Monthly Maintenance & Infrastructure Report
  • Monthly and Quarterly report writing - gathering data from different departments and preparing the reports on time
  • Systems oversight and implementation
  • Fuel & Camp; Vehicle Logs
  • Monthly Environmental & Waste Management Report
  • Quarterly Risk Assessment
  • Asset Register and Audit Compliance
  • Repair & Renovation Plan Execution Status
  • Monthly financials and camp performance-based reports


Working Contacts 

  • Internal: All operational staff, Nairobi procurement & HR, fellow Camp Manager – Front of House
  • External: Suppliers, contractors, local authorities, community leaders


Supervisory Responsibility
 

  • Maintenance (Plumbing, Electrical, Building), Transport & Mechanics (Vehicles, Guides), Stores Camp; Stock Management, Camp Safety Camp; Security, Internal Procurement Camp; Logistics, Finance.


Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Tourism Management or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years (In a similar position) in operations within the remote tourism field
  • Strong leadership, budgeting, problem-solving skills
  • Strong people skills
