Our client offers high-performance products including concrete admixtures, waterproofing systems, and surface treatments, tailored for durability and excellence. To support continued regional growth, they are seeking an Area Sales Manager to lead business development and sales activities across Tanzania.

To accelerate growth and enhance market presence in Tanzania, they are seeking a strategic and performance-driven Area Sales Manager to join their team in Dar es Salaam.

Objectives of the Role

  • Maximise sales opportunities by promoting the full product range across Tanzania.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies that align with group-level objectives and ensure profitable growth.
  • Drive market share gains, improve selling margins, and support the growth of local partner organisations.
  • Leverage internal business processes (BPM) to report on performance and forecast accurately.
  • Consistently strive to meet or exceed budget targets and sales objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Position the company as the preferred solutions provider across relevant application areas.
  • Identify profitable market opportunities and act swiftly on emerging trends.
  • Manage pricing to meet budgeted material margins.
  • Collaborate with global R&D to introduce cost-effective, market-suited products.
  • Roll out new products quickly and effectively (“time to market” focus).
  • Support local production by aligning sales efforts with available capacity.
  • Implement best practices in forecasting, receivables management, and CRM adoption.
  • Work cross-functionally to uncover and capitalise on cross-selling opportunities.
  • Identify and explore export opportunities in the region.
  • Lead the use of customer relationship management tools to drive performance.
  • Deliver or exceed sales and financial targets in alignment with group strategy.
  • Maintain up-to-date project pipelines, sales action plans, and competitive analysis.
  • Oversee marketing planning and execution aligned with annual objectives.
  • Monitor and report on competitor activities and market developments.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, including HSE.
  • Support and mentor the local sales team and act as liaison with the Tanzanian partner.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the General Manager or direct superior.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing and selling high-spec industrial products.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the building and construction sector.
  • Proven ability to manage sales from concept to implementation with sound business judgment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Tech-savvy, numerate, self-driven, and able to operate independently in remote regions.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in a multinational environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales & Marketing, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
